AUGUST

Spray stonefruit trees at pink bud swell stage with leaf curl spray to control rot and leafcurl. Fertilise your fruit trees with an organic fertiliser eg Rapidraiser or Blood'n'bone. If you use blood'n'bone mix it with sulphate of potash in 10-1 ratio to make a complete fertiliser.

Start a mushroom farm, it's so easy, it all comes in a box just open and water. Use Glyphosate to kill soursobs just as they begin to flower. Weed regularly to reduce competition around annuals and vegies.

The early bulbs and blossom trees in the garden remind us that spring is just around the corner. When watering do it in the morning.

Moss in lawns is usually caused by poor drainage, too much shade or compacted soil. It can be controlled short term by using 30g Iron Sulphate in 4 litres water. Improving the drainage by coring and adding gypsum at 500g per sqm will help improve drainage. Gypsum needs to be used regularly to be affective, at least 3 times a year. If possible prune trees to let more light in over the lawn.
